SEVIS Update: COVID -19 and Fall 2020

Dear Students:

Many of you have seen news reports about changes in SEVIS policy (Dated July 6, 2020) that affect international students.  As you know, we always maintain compliance with SEVIS policies.  As of this past Spring quarter, with approval of SEVIS, we were allowed to move our courses temporarily online in order to protect our students from exposure to the coronavirus for both the Spring and Summer quarters.  As of today, we have received notice from SEVP that they are modifying their exemptions to their rules as of the Fall, 2020.  As such, our Summer quarter will continue to be offered entirely online, but as of the Fall quarter, we will be moving to adopt a hybrid-online method of course delivery so that we will be offering both in-person, on campus courses as well as remote classes together in order to ensure that our students are able to maintain compliance as well as safety protocols.  We will keep you informed as to how and when we will implement this.

Here is the list of three things we will do to comply with new SEVIS rules and regulations. First, in accordance with SEVIS rules and regulations, we will report SEVIS about our plan to have a hybrid of in-person and remote classes from the fall, 2020. Second, we will issue new Form I-20 to each student certifying that the school is not operating entirely online, that the student is not taking an entirely online course load for the fall 2020, and the student is taking the minimum number of online classes required to make normal progress. Third, we will offer a hybrid of in-person and online classes together from the fall.

At this moment, we can only assure you that your safety, and that of our faculty and staff, is our top priority.  For the moment, you do not have to do anything differently.  We will inform you when we have more information on how we will implement the new policy which will take place as of September 28th, 2020, the beginning of the Fall quarter.
